Lulu V. Molinares (Panama, 1995) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice centers on the exploration and pursuit of the capacity and the right to self-determination. Through textiles, performance, and writing, imagines worlds and bodies that challenge cis/hetero/binary norms, creating from memory, desire, and dissidence.
Guided by the constant urge to transform—both in his life and creative process—his work responds to the fundamental question: How does one inhabit a body in this world? In an attempt to envision other ways of being and dwelling, his practice draws on the body, introspection, and handmade objects to give shape to his inner imaginary. Using mainly textile, his work traverses various processes, reflections, and lived experiences that turn the fear of choosing life into a rite of curiosity, redemption, and courage.
Molinares graduated in Fine Art and Art History from Goldsmiths University, London (2018), and has exhibited his work in Central America and New York. Has received awards such as the Prince Claus Seed Award (2022).
